'I wonder what sort of mood Muriel's going to be in today,' said Norman, as Morgan pulled out of the car park. 'Crabby as hell, I expect. That seems to be her default setting.'

'Are you sure you're in the right frame of mind to ask her questions?' asked Morgan.

'Oh, I'm not asking her anything,' said Norman. 'That's why you're coming along. She likes you. She'll talk to you.'

'Yes, but-’

'Hey, look, don't feel bad about this, Catren. You didn't think I was going to take all that crap from you guys earlier and not plan to get my own back, did you?'

'What? You mean-’

'That's right, it's payback time, which means you're leading the interview with Muriel.'

Morgan watched Norman from the corner of her eye as he sat back with a smug smile on his face. She couldn't help but smile herself. Before Norman and Southall, they had treated her as a dogsbody with zero responsibility. Now things couldn't be more different. Working with Norman was fun, yet they seemed to get more work done. She felt she was learning all the time, and her new bosses allowed her to have responsibilities. Norman said this was payback for earlier, but she knew there was more to it than that. None of her previous bosses would have trusted her to lead this interview.

'Okay,' she said. 'I can handle this, but can we just run through the questions you want me to ask before we get there?'

Norman smiled.

'For sure,' he said, producing a notebook and pencil. 'I'll write a list, but you tell me what questions we should ask and I'll just add anything I think you missed.'
